Top Politicians Accused of Aiding Insecurity in Nigeria — Governor Hyacinth Alia
In a damning revelation, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has accused top-ranking politicians in the National Assembly of being complicit in the ongoing insecurity in Nigeria, alleging that they are directly involved in supporting criminal elements operating from the nation’s forests.
During a recent televised interview, the Governor did not mince words, describing the situation as “extremely unacceptable.” According to him, “Top politicians who are very functional and are in the National Assembly and are in Abuja are the architects—not just instigating or harbouring and keeping these people, but feeding them in the bushes and taking care of all their needs and buying all the other gadgets for them.”
The Governor expressed frustration at the prioritization of political ambition over the lives of ordinary citizens. “If they do not love the lives of the people and they are only fighting for their own political position,” he said, “I think I am serving the interest of the common masses and it is a concern to me and it is my right to protect it.”
He also revealed that his administration was expecting a critical security report in the coming week and vowed to act swiftly. “So once we receive this report this coming week, we are going to take it up and take it up very seriously,” he said. “There are quite a lot of big names that I have mentioned here. So this is where we are.”

Governor Alia promised transparency and public accountability in handling the report.
“We will be looking forward to the report and making it public. And for the interest of the people of the state, I am hoping that people will not instigate and continue to allow the killings of the people,” he added.
Before concluding the interview, Governor Hyacinth cautioned the public against misinformation and exaggerated statistics being circulated online. “When you see figures on the social media, be cautious. Don’t swallow them sinker and pooker,” he warned. “The social media members be cautious.”
The Governor’s comments are expected to stir fresh debates on the nexus between politics and insecurity in the country, as citizens await the release of the anticipated security report.
