IGP Honors 20 AIGs and 19 CPs with New Ranks

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, has awarded new ranks to recently promoted Senior Police Officers in a ceremony marked by enthusiastic support from their families, friends, and professional colleagues.
The promotion ceremony, held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters in Abuja, recognized 20 Commissioners of Police (CPs) who were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG), and 19 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCs) who were promoted to the substantive rank of CP. This elevation followed recent approvals by the Police Service Commission (PSC) at the request of the IGP.

Dignitaries present at the event included former Senate President David Mark, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (represented by Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan), former Ekiti State Governor Otunba Niyi Adebayo, former Akwa-Ibom Speaker Onofiok Luke, members of the Force Management Team, and both serving and retired Senior Police Officers, along with the families of the promoted officers.
In his address, the IGP congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to adopt strategic and progressive approaches to policing while supporting ongoing positive reforms aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of the Force, as stated by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
