Prudential Zenith Life Insurance Appoints New CEO, Board Chair

Prudential Zenith Life Insurance Limited has named Funmilayo Abimbola Omo as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

In addition, ‘Tokunboh Ishmael has been appointed as the Chair of the Board of Directors.

These leadership changes come on the heels of Prudential Plc’s acquisition of the remaining 49% stake in Prudential Zenith Life, making it the sole owner of the company as of September 26, 2024.

Omo brings extensive experience in insurance and financial services to her new role, while Ishmael contributes over 20 years of expertise in investment banking, private equity, and business development.

Emmanuel Aryee, CEO for Africa at Prudential, stated that the appointments reflect the company’s commitment to strengthening its footprint in Nigeria and across Africa.

Under full ownership by Prudential and with the new leadership team, the company aims to enhance access to its insurance offerings by leveraging its global capabilities and bancassurance partnership with Zenith Bank.

As of December 2022, Prudential Zenith Life reported a gross written premium of N6.3 billion.

The move to full ownership marks a significant milestone for the company’s operations in the Nigerian market.
