PSC cautions states against seizing police recruitment slots

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has warned state governments not to hijack recruitment slots allocated to them for the 2025 Cadet ASPs and Constables exercise.
PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Hashimu Argungu, issued the warning on Thursday at a stakeholders’ consultative meeting with representatives from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja.
The meeting, themed “Collaborative Approach for a Transparent and Equitable Police Recruitment Process”, sought to strengthen cooperation between the PSC and state governments to ensure fairness in the recruitment process.

Argungu emphasised that while the Commission is committed to partnering with states to achieve transparency and equity, it will not tolerate any attempt to usurp recruitment slots at the state level.
