Reps Caucus Endorses FG’s Plan to Concession Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu
The Enugu Caucus in the House of Representatives has thrown its weight behind the Federal Government’s decision to concession the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, hailing it as a major step that could drive economic growth in the Southeast.
In a statement, the caucus praised the initiative, describing it as a potential catalyst for regional development and called on the government to expedite the concessioning process.
They said this would allow the people of the Southeast and the country at large, to start reaping the economic benefits without delay.
It further urged the people of the Southeast to rally behind the Federal Government’s plan, emphasizing that supporting the concession was the surest path to attracting sustainable investments needed to transform the airport into a world-class international facility.
“The concession of Akanu Ibiam International Airport is the only way to guarantee sustainable investment to fully develop the airport into a truly international facility.”
The caucus’s backing adds momentum to the Federal Government’s wider efforts to revamp key infrastructure through private sector involvement.
