Wandering Elephants Kill Farmer in Ijebu East – Ogun State

A tragic incident occurred in the Onitasin Imobi community of Ijebu East Local Government Area, Ogun State, as a herd of wandering elephants reportedly attacked and killed a local farmer. The victim, identified as Musa Kalamu, was said to be working on his farmland when the elephants, believed to have strayed from a nearby government-reserved forest, stormed the area.

Eyewitnesses reported that the elephants, which had been seen roaming close to the village in recent days, suddenly turned aggressive. Musa Kalamu was caught in the chaos and trampled before help could arrive.

Local authorities and forest officials have been alerted, and investigations are underway to determine how the animals escaped from their designated reserve. The Ogun State government has yet to release an official statement, but the community is calling for urgent intervention to prevent future tragedies.

The incident has sparked concern among residents, with many fearing more attacks if swift action is not taken to control wildlife movement in the area.
