Rotary donates food items to orphanage

The Rotary Club of Ikorodu Metropolitan, District 9112, has donated food items, clothing, household essentials and medical supplies, and free medical services to inmates of the House of Chloe Orphanage Home in Ikorodu.

Dr Sikiru Olubayo Ojo, the President of the Club, who spoke during the visit, explained that the gesture was aimed at reminding the residents that they are not alone during the Yuletide season.

“We want the children to feel loved and cared for, especially during this festive period,” Ojo said.

The donated items included a 50-kilogramme bag of rice, vegetable oil, cartons of noodles, biscuits, evaporated milk, beverages and sachet custard, packs of tissue paper and sanitary towels.

Bags of clothes, customized bags, general medical consumables, ongoing free medical services, and a festive lunch and party for the children were also included.

The president of the club also noted that the donations fulfilled a promise by their late president, Victor Femi-Fred, who prioritised members’ support for the orphanage.

Mrs Olukemi Olukoya, Founder of the Orphanage Home, who received the items, showed her great appreciation for the Rotary Club’s consistent support throughout the year.

Olukoya noted that the donations of food supplies, essential items, medical consumables, and the ongoing provision of free medical services have significantly impacted the children under their care.

The founder also said that the festive lunch and party always create an unforgettable memories for the children and everyone involved, adding that the collaborative efforts of the Rotary Club of Ikorodu Metropolitan and the House of Chloe Orphanage Home are a testament to the power of community involvement.

“This heartwarming celebration truly embodied the spirit of giving and compassion,” she added.
