“School Looted by Its Own Leaders!” — Bauchi Principal, Senior Teacher Demoted for Selling Off Government Property
In a scandal that has rocked the education sector, the Bauchi State Teachers Service Commission has demoted Malam Musa Ahmed, Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Kirfi, and Malam Adamu Shehu, a Senior Master at the same school, over what authorities described as gross misconduct and betrayal of public trust.
According to a statement issued Thursday by Malam Dahiru Adamu, the Commission’s Information Officer, the disciplinary action was taken after a thorough investigation confirmed that the two officials illegally sold off government property.
“They sold 32 scrapped students beds, nine jumbo aluminum pots and roofing zinc,” the statement disclosed.
The oversight Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Garba Bashe, confirmed that a four-member committee probed the allegations and found both officers guilty of the unauthorized sales.
“The commission has therefore approved the demotion of the two officers by one grade and they will be posted to different schools to teach,” he added.

In addition to their demotion and transfer, the officials are to refund ₦597,000, the total value of the items sold. The statement also revealed that the embattled principal must personally pay ₦72,000 in outstanding allowances owed to casual workers of the school.
The Commission pledged to work with security agencies to recover the stolen items and prevent such abuse of office in future.
This disciplinary action has sparked mixed reactions across the state, with critics questioning how deeply corruption runs within the education system, while others hail the Commission’s swift response as a warning to erring public officials.
