Court Orders EFCC to Release Aisha Achimugu Within 24 Hours Amid Ongoing Probe
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to release embattled businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, within 24 hours.
Delivering a brief ruling on Wednesday, Justice Inyang Ekwo directed the anti-graft agency to comply with the release order and report back to the court on May 2, 2025.
This comes after the court, on Monday, instructed Achimugu to appear before the EFCC in connection with an investigation involving allegations of money laundering and related offences.
Justice Ekwo emphasized that following her appearance at the EFCC headquarters, she must be brought before the court on Wednesday, April 30, to provide an update on the matter.

Achimugu was apprehended by EFCC operatives at approximately 5 a.m. on Tuesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Earlier reports indicated that the EFCC had been probing large sums of money, including $86,500, allegedly concealed in unconventional places such as bedspreads, in connection with the case.
“All parties, particularly the EFCC, must return to this court on May 2 to report compliance,” Justice Ekwo ruled.
