Shehu Sani Expresses Support for Burkina Faso’s Transitional Leader, Captain Traoré

Former Nigerian Senator Shehu Sani has expressed his support for Burkina Faso’s transitional leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, amid international criticism.
It was gathered that US General Michael Langley, head of AFRICOM, accused Traoré of misusing Burkina Faso’s gold reserves to enhance his personal security rather than investing in national development.

Captain Traoré assumed power on September 30, 2022, after a military coup that ousted Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, who had also seized control earlier that year.

Shehu Sani called for collective prayers for Traoré, stating that he “truly deserves our prayers” given the daily targeting he faces.
Traoré is facing intensified international scrutiny, with Sani’s comments coming at a time when criticism of Traoré’s leadership and allegations of gold misuse are gaining traction.
