Social Media Influencer VeryDarkMan Claims to Have Voice Note Linking Prison Boss to Bobrisky Bribery Scandal

Social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has clarified that he had no intention of defaming human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, over allegations related to cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Contrary to suggestions circulating on social media, VeryDarkMan emphasized his respect for Falana but called for a thorough investigation into the matter. He also mentioned receiving additional information implicating officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

Fusion Chronicles reported on Wednesday that Femi Falana denied ever speaking to Bobrisky about any alleged pardon or legal matters. In a letter dated September 25, 2024, Falana’s legal team, represented by Taiwo E. Olawanle of Falana & Falana Chambers, responded to an Instagram post made by VeryDarkMan. In the post, VeryDarkMan claimed that Falana had spoken to Bobrisky to manipulate justice. He also accused the senior lawyer of allegedly seeking a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for ₦10 million.

Falana’s legal team described these claims as defamatory, asserting that they misrepresented Falana’s integrity and accused him of dishonest conduct. In response, VeryDarkMan took to Instagram again, insisting he had further evidence supporting his claims, including a voice note in which Bobrisky allegedly stated he served his sentence in a private apartment.

Addressing the accusations, VeryDarkMan said, “I did not defame Uncle Falana, and I never will. Uncle Falana, SAN, is someone I respect 100%. I respect him not just for his position but for what he has done with it, representing people like me who speak out against societal ills.”

He further explained that his remarks were a reaction to Bobrisky’s claims, which alleged that Falz had connected Falana to a ₦10 million deal. “I chose not to believe Uncle Falana would be involved in such a thing. If he were, I would be disappointed because of his standing in society,” VeryDarkMan added.

Calling for an investigation, he urged authorities to thoroughly examine all the parties involved, including the EFCC, the Comptroller General of Prisons, and Falana. He concluded by reiterating his respect for Falana, stating, “Uncle Falana, I will never defame you, and I did not defame you. Thank you very much; I still love you.”
