Sokoto Court Sentences Man to Two Years for Human Trafficking

A High Court in Sokoto State has sentenced a 43-year-old man, Gerald Eugene, to two years in prison for receiving two victims of human trafficking with the intent of exploiting them.

The conviction was announced in a statement posted on Tuesday by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on its official Facebook page.

Eugene was arraigned before Justice Mu’awiya Dahiru on April 15, 2025, and found guilty of the offence. The court delivered the sentencing on Monday.

According to NAPTIP, Eugene was convicted under Section 13(2)(c) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.
