FRCN Hosts Vibrant Sports Fiesta for Lagos Schoolchildren

Young athletes shone brightly at the recently concluded fourth edition of the FRCN Lagos Children Sports Fiesta, held at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere.
The one-day event brought together junior secondary school students, transforming the stadium into a carnival of sports and excitement.
The highlight of the fiesta was the five-a-side football championship, where Prellar College triumphed in the boys’ category after a dramatic 2-1 penalty shootout victory over tournament favourites, Kings College.
The match had ended 1-1 in regulation time. Peculiar Heights clinched bronze with a narrow 1-0 win over Mighty Pillars.
Mighty Pillars, however, bounced back in the girls’ category, defeating Hellifest 3-0 to claim gold. Peculiar Heights added a second bronze medal to their tally after edging Ikpea College 5-4 in a thrilling encounter.
Athletics also featured prominently at the fiesta. Favour Igwe of Ikpea College sprinted to gold in the girls’ 100 metres, while Chinedu Umeh of Ark of the Lord emerged victorious in the boys’ race.
Coach Wale Hassan, who guided Prellar College to football glory, expressed enthusiasm for future editions, saying he was already looking forward to next year’s event.
