Sowore Leads Protest at Force HQ, Demands Better Pay and Pensions for Nigerian Police

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, on Monday led a peaceful protest to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, demanding improved salaries and pension benefits for Nigerian police officers.

The demonstrators, made up of concerned citizens and supporters, carried placards with bold messages such as “Pay Police a Living Wage,” “End Police Slavery,” “Pensions for Police Officers,” and “Dignity for Those in Uniform.” The protest was themed around the hashtag #PoliceProtest.

Chanting slogans like “Pay police a living wage and proper pensions,”the group sought to draw attention to what they described as the inhumane welfare conditions affecting both serving and retired members of the Nigeria Police Force.

Although the protesters were not allowed entry into the Force Headquarters, they were provided with police escorts as they proceeded to the National Assembly to continue their demonstration.
