Stop Dragging My Children Into Your Political Frustrations – Wike explodes, fires Atiku

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of orchestrating recent claims that he (Wike) awarded prime plots of land in Abuja to his children.

In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike dismissed the accusations as baseless and politically motivated.

Olayinka described the allegations as “desperate attempts at blackmail” and denied that any land had been given to Wike’s children.

Taking a swipe at Atiku without mentioning him directly, the statement read:

“Let the man from Adamawa, who is clearly agitated over Wike’s support for power rotation between the North and South, try harder. Just like the falsehood of last week, this one has also failed even before it began.”

Wike’s aide insisted that the minister remains focused on transforming the FCT in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and no level of propaganda would deter him.

The statement further explained that the previous week’s claim involved a fabricated story about Wike giving 2,082 hectares in Asokoro and Maitama to his son—an impossible feat, as no such expanse of land exists in those districts. The land referenced was actually an agricultural allocation in Bwari Area Council to a company named JOAQ Farms.

This week, the controversy shifted to another claim involving a company called Jordan Farms and Estates Limited, which critics linked to Wike’s son merely because he is named Jordan.

Olayinka clarified:

“No land has been allocated to any of the minister’s children. Jordan Farms is a legally registered business in Nigeria, and none of Wike’s children are listed as directors.”

He challenged those behind the allegations to publicly disclose the real owners of Jordan Farms, pointing out that all such records are available at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

To underscore the weakness of the claims, Olayinka said:

“My name is Lere Olayinka. There’s a Lere Local Government in Kaduna—does that make me the owner? There are many companies with the name ‘Jordan’. That doesn’t make them family businesses.”

He also questioned the relevance of a minister’s aide appearing on documentation related to the land, stating that assisting a friend or associate with documentation doesn’t equate to property ownership.
