Super Eagles’ Boniface shares photo of ‘Isakaba’ bus supplied by Libya FA

The Nigerian football team’s trip to Libya for their AFCON qualifier second leg has been fraught with challenges, leaving players and officials frustrated. Upon arrival at the airport, the Libyan Football Federation failed to provide a reception team or transportation, leaving the delegation stranded for over 15 hours. The hotel, located three hours away in Benghazi, remained out of reach due to these logistical issues.

Although the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) had made alternative arrangements for transportation, the team’s flight diversion from Benghazi to Al Abaq disrupted these plans. In response to the situation, players resolved not to play the match, and NFF officials began planning to return the team to Nigeria.

Despite not being part of the October squad due to injury, Victor Osimhen showed support for his teammates through an Instagram post. Meanwhile, striker Victor Boniface took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice his dissatisfaction with the transportation provided by the Libyan FA, sharing a photo of the ‘Isakaba’ bus offered to the team, which was deemed unsuitable.

Boniface highlighted the poor conditions of the bus, sarcastically commenting, “See Isakaba bus wey them bring come yesterday, nobody enter ooo.” He added that after 16 hours of waiting, a subpar vehicle had been sent to the team, further expressing his frustration at the situation.

The team was forced to spend the night in uncomfortable conditions, a stark contrast to their first-leg victory over Libya, where they won 1-0 in Uyo.
