Suspected Bandits Attack Church in Kogi, Abduct Pastor, Wife and Members

Suspected bandits on Sunday attacked a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, abducting the pastor, his wife and several members during a morning service.

Worshippers were thrown into panic as gunshots rang out, forcing many to flee in different directions. The pastor, popularly known as Orlando, was taken alongside his wife and others whose exact number is yet to be confirmed.

Residents described the incident as terrifying, saying the attackers stormed the area unexpectedly, leaving the community in shock.

The Kogi State Government confirmed the attack, stating that security agencies and local vigilante structures have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators. Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, said the state is doing everything possible to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted victims.

He added that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is coordinating security operations, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to authorities. Fanwo also advised worship centres in remote locations to reconsider holding services in high-risk areas until security improves.
