Suspected herders kill man, injure wife in Benue attack

Suspected armed herders on Saturday invaded Tse Akor Gbatse, a village in Mbamar Clan, Nyiev Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, killing one man and leaving his wife and another woman seriously injured.

Residents said several other farmers remain missing following the attack, which occurred around 11:45 a.m. while the victims were working on their farm.

A community member, Jonah, told FCNN that the deceased, Mr. Tachia Akor, was attacked alongside his wife and Mrs. Mbagbedi Tsetim.

The women were rushed to Adi Hospital in Daudu for treatment.

He added that some of the suspected herders had been sighted hiding in abandoned villages within the LGA.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, DSP Edeme Udet, said officers had been deployed to the area.
“Yes, we received the report and immediately mobilised our men to the scene. Investigations are ongoing and normalcy has been restored,” he said.
