A 25-year-old suspected kidnapper, Musa Shaibu, has confessed to planning an international escape with his share of a N20 million ransom demanded for the release of a kidnapped teenager.
FCNN gathered that Shaibu was arrested by detectives from the Lagos State Police Command in the Ajegunle area following the abduction of a 14-year-old boy, identified simply as Hassan, the son of a Bureau De Change operator. The incident reportedly took place at the victim’s residence in the Olodi-Apapa area of Lagos.
According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect was apprehended during a sting operation at a petrol station near Wema Bridge in Apapa, where the ransom payment was scheduled to take place.

“In the course of interrogation, the suspect revealed that their intent was not to harm the boy but to extort N20 million from his father. He also stated he intended to travel overseas with his portion of the money,” Hundeyin said.
Further police operations led officers to a hotel in Ajegunle, believed to be the gang’s hideout, where the victim was found unharmed. He has since been debriefed and reunited with his family.
The manager of the hotel was also taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
CSP Hundeyin confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the gang and bring them to justice.
