Suspension Claim: Otti Labels Abure a “Clown Seizing for a Crown

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has dismissed his alleged suspension from the Labour Party by the embattled national chairman, Julius Abure, as a desperate ploy by a “clown looking for a crown.”
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, on Wednesday, Otti emphasized that the Supreme Court has definitively ruled that Abure is no longer the party’s national chairman.
Abia State Governor Alex Otti urged the Inspector General of Police to take action against Abure for impersonation and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the full enforcement of the Supreme Court’s ruling, highlighting that doing so is crucial for preserving the integrity of the judiciary and for the protection of democracy.
The statement read: “Governor Alex Otti has been made aware of the news regarding his purported suspension, along with other prominent leaders of the Labour Party, announced by the former national chairman, Julius Abure.
“Abure’s statement, accompanied by his band of jesters, is not just an over-the-top joke; it represents an affront to democracy by a group of inconsequential actors desperate to exploit Gov. Otti’s reputation to further their own self-serving economic agendas.
“For the record, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has unequivocally affirmed that Julius Abure is no longer the national chairman of the Labour Party.
This judgment aligns with the Labour Party’s constitution and established the Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee, thereby stripping Abure of any authority to claim the position of National Chairman.
“Just hours after being summoned by the aforementioned committee to address allegations of serious misconduct, including financial mismanagement, impersonation, and anti-party activities, Abure attempted to manipulate the situation by hastily announcing the supposed suspension of Gov. Otti and other distinguished party members.
“We urge Nigerians to dismiss Abure’s ridiculous claims and to view him and his cohorts as a group of clowns desperately pursuing a crown they do not merit.”
