Court Clears Fayose of Money Laundering Charges
The Federal High Court in Lagos has acquitted former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of all charges in his prolonged money laundering trial filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court upheld Fayose’s no-case submission, stating that the prosecution failed to present sufficient evidence to establish a prima facie case, thereby making further defence unnecessary.
Fayose had been on trial for alleged money laundering and fraud during his time as governor, but after years of proceedings, the court ruled that the EFCC’s case lacked the required merit to proceed.
