JUST IN: FG to arraign suspects in Owo Church massacre

The Federal Government will on Monday, bring five men to court over the deadly June 5, 2022 attack on Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State.
The accused — Idris Omeiza, Al-Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris, and Momoh Abubakar — are to appear before Justice Obiorah Egwatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on a nine-count charge bordering on terrorism.
Their arraignment comes three years after then Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, announced the arrest of those behind the massacre, which the National Security Council linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

On that tragic Sunday, gunmen invaded the church during mass, detonated explosives, and opened fire on worshippers, killing over 40 people and injuring many more — a horror that shocked the nation and drew global condemnation.
