The Benue community has been plunged into mourning following the heartbreaking loss of Senator Abba Moro’s son, Victor Peter Moro, and his grandson, Abba Moro Jnr, who both died within a span of 48 hours.

Victor, who had just returned from Turkey after completing his studies, was reportedly involved in a fatal accident around the Mararaba area shortly after coming home to commence his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. Tragedy struck the family again just two days later with the passing of Senator Moro’s 10-year-old grandson, Abba Moro Jnr.

The shocking double loss has cast a shadow of grief over the Moro family and the entire Idoma nation, with messages of condolence pouring in from political figures, traditional rulers, and sympathizers across Benue State and beyond.

In his reaction, the Member representing Okpokwu Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Agom Anthony, expressed deep sadness over the incident, describing Victor as “a man of integrity and kindness.”

“Victor was more than a son to Senator Moro; he was a true friend and ally. I fondly recall meeting him during one of my visits to Turkey his humility, compassion, and dedication to his people stood out. His passing is an irreplaceable loss,” Agom stated in his condolence message.

He described the twin tragedies as “unbearable and profoundly painful,” offering prayers for divine strength and comfort for Senator Moro and his entire family.

“As you walk through this season of sorrow, know that you are surrounded by love and prayers. May cherished memories bring you peace and consolation,” he added.

The remains of the late Victor Peter Moro have been conveyed to Ugbokolo, his hometown in Okpokwu Local Government Area, where he has been laid to rest.
