Mother Seeks N22 Million for Daughter’s Kidney Transplant

Mrs. Rhoda Nwachukwu is urgently appealing for N22 million to fund a kidney transplant for her 16-year-old daughter, Colette, who has been diagnosed with advanced chronic kidney disease.
In a statement shared with reporters, Mrs. Nwachukwu explained that the need for public assistance arose after the family depletes their resources on Colette’s treatment.
Currently, she requires dialysis twice a week, with each session costing N150,000.
So far, Colette has undergone 19 dialysis sessions, which have accumulated significant expenses, not to mention regular nephrology consultations.
“We have sold everything we owned. As a single mother, I have done everything I can, but we are barely getting by. Even if I saved my salary for 20 years, I wouldn’t be able to raise N22 million,” Nwachukwu expressed. “We are relying on God and the kindness of others. My daughter deserves a fighting chance at life.”
Mrs. Nwachukwu recounted that Colette was initially admitted to Gbagada General Hospital in Lagos due to a persistent fever, only to receive the heartbreaking diagnosis of chronic kidney disease.
“The news was devastating for our family. Colette has always aspired to become a medical doctor; she is highly intelligent and determined, often topping her class while dreaming of saving lives herself. Now, we are focused solely on saving her life,” she said.
The family is appealing to compassionate Nigerians, organizations, and government agencies for financial support to facilitate Colette’s life-saving kidney transplant.
