Ganduje Steps Down as APC National Chairman, Cites Health—Party Insiders Suspect Political Pressure
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has officially resigned from his position with immediate effect.
Ganduje, who served as Governor of Kano State from 2015 to 2023, attributed his decision to health concerns, noting in his resignation letter that he needs to “focus on personal well-being.”
Despite this explanation, speculation within the APC suggests his resignation may be linked to deeper issues beyond his health.

There is rising political tension in the party, and insiders believe growing dissatisfaction among top stakeholders may have influenced his exit.
Ganduje’s leadership, which began in August 2023, was marked by persistent factional disputes and internal power struggles. His tenure came at a time when the APC was facing significant internal divisions, and his approach to party leadership often polarized members—drawing both staunch defenders and vocal critics.
As the party navigates its next steps, attention is now turning to who will succeed him and how the APC will handle the transition ahead of critical political timelines.
