Ebonyi Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Neighbour with Shovel

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Ezeoke Chidera for allegedly murdering his 60-year-old neighbour, Mrs. Rose Awoke.

This was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu.

According to the statement, the tragic incident occurred on Monday in Egugho Village, Ezzagu Community, located in the Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.

Ukandu stated that the suspect attacked the woman during a dispute, repeatedly hitting her with a shovel, which ultimately led to her death.

“On 02/06/2025, at about 0600hrs, we received a report that one Ezeoke Chidera, who lives in the same compound as Mrs. Awoke Rose, aged about 60, attacked her by hitting her several times with a shovel and left her lying in a pool of blood,” the statement said.

He added that officers from the command quickly apprehended the suspect, and an investigation is ongoing to uncover the motive behind the brutal assault.
