Why National Assembly Blocked Senator Natasha’s Resumption

Kindly share this story

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has been blocked from resuming her seat in the National Assembly despite completing her 6-month suspension.

The National Assembly cited a pending court case at the Court of Appeal, which makes her suspension still an active issue.
FCNN gathered that Senator Natasha had written to the National Assembly to indicate her desire to return to the senate after her suspension expired.

The Clerk to the National Assembly, Yahaya Danzaria, responded that until the judicial process is completed and the senate reviews the court’s pronouncement, no decision can be taken to facilitate her resumption.

Senator Natasha had attempted to resume on July 12, but was denied access into the National Assembly.

Both Senator Natasha and the National Assembly have appealed portions of the Federal High Court’s judgment, which is currently pending before the Court of Appeal.
