The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced the arrest of three individuals linked to the abduction of the Anambra State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, troops from Operation UDO KA, in a coordinated operation with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), apprehended the suspects during a raid on their hideout on Wednesday.
The arrested suspects were identified as Emeka Ede, Okwudili Aja and Onyebuchi Aja.
“Intelligence report has it that the suspects masterminded the kidnapping of the NDLEA Commander of Anambra State Command on June 12,” Kangye disclosed during a Thursday media briefing in Abuja.
Recovered during the operation were assorted weapons, a large quantity of ammunition and some illicit drugs.

“The recovered items are in the custody of troops while suspects are currently undergoing interrogation,” he said.
Kangye also revealed that between June 28 and June 30, troops carried out successful offensive operations in Owerri West and Ihiala Local Government Areas of Imo and Anambra States, respectively. These operations led to the arrest of 21 suspected illicit drug dealers, and the recovery of arms, ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles, IED-making materials, and mobile phones.
In another operation on June 26, based on credible intelligence, troops arrested two suspects at a Point of Sale (POS) outlet believed to be operated by a sponsor of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Ihiala.
“The suspects are currently undergoing interrogations,” Kangye added.
