“Come Out of Hiding – Join APC Boldly!” Matawalle Dares Zamfara Governor

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has thrown down the challenge to Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, urging him to stop “playing hide and seek” over reported plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during the Sallah celebration in Maradun, Matawalle, a former governor and key APC figure, challenged Lawal to be open about his political moves.

“Instead of hiding during the day and sneaking around at night, he should be courageous and join the APC the right way as a true progressive,” Matawalle declared.

He emphasized that the APC, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is open to all who share its vision and values, describing the party as one rooted in order and humility.

While expressing no personal opposition to Lawal’s potential defection, Matawalle cautioned against the current political maneuvering in the state, calling it deceptive and unhealthy for democracy.

He also criticized Lawal’s administration for failing to curb banditry and accused it of misleading the public rather than providing concrete solutions. According to him, Zamfara experienced more peace and development during his tenure, despite receiving lower federal allocations ₦3 to ₦4 billion monthly compared to the alleged ₦19 to ₦24 billion under Lawal.

“Let the governor come clean tell the people how much Zamfara gets and where it’s going. Development should be visible,” Matawalle insisted

He concluded by urging his supporters to stand behind President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially in the areas of security and economic reform.
