Defence Minister Donates N500 Million to APC Supporters in Zamfara for Ramadan
The Minister of State for Defence, Hon. Bello Mattawalle, has donated ₦500 million to supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State to help them observe the Ramadan fast more comfortably.
Speaking to journalists in Gusau on Thursday, the minister’s aide, Ibrahim Danmaliki Gidan-Goga, explained that Mattawalle opted for a cash donation instead of foodstuffs since other politicians in the state had already distributed grains to their supporters.

“This time, instead of giving out assorted grains, we decided to provide cash so that beneficiaries can purchase other essential items needed for Ramadan,” he stated.
Gidan-Goga noted that former Governor Senator Abdul Aziz Yari had already donated 496 trucks of grains, prompting the minister to assist in a different way.
A total of 200 people from each of the 14 local government areas were selected, with each receiving ₦100,000, amounting to ₦280 million. Additionally, 24 APC stakeholders from five local government areas in the Zamfara West Senatorial Zone were given ₦250,000 each, totaling ₦30 million.
Similarly, 90 APC stakeholders from Zamfara Central and Zamfara North Senatorial Zones received ₦250,000 each, summing up to ₦22.5 million. Other categories of people also benefited from the minister’s Ramadan welfare package.
Gidan-Goga confirmed that over 80% of the targeted beneficiaries had already received their money. Payments have been completed in areas such as Bakura, Gummi, Kaura-Namoda, Maradun, Shinkafi, and Talata-Mafara. Meanwhile, 100 beneficiaries from each of the five local government areas of Tsafe, Zurmi, Bungudu, Bukkuyum, and Anka have also been paid, with the remaining recipients set to receive theirs soon.
However, beneficiaries from Birnin Magaji Local Government are yet to collect their funds due to delays in submitting their names.
The minister’s aide urged recipients to continue praying for peace and progress in the country.
