Popular Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, known professionally as Falz, has shared that he may not raise his future children in Nigeria.
Speaking during a recent episode of the Dear Ife Series Podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, Falz opened up about the challenges that influence his hesitation, including national insecurity, economic instability, and personal risks tied to his activism.
When asked if he would consider raising his kids in Nigeria, Falz responded candidly:
“Ah! That’s a deep question. I didn’t expect that. I haven’t really thought that far, to be honest. But I can’t say ‘yes’ outright because of the things we’re discussing — the insecurity, the threats that come with being vocal, and the general complacency among Nigerians.”
He added that while he can’t confidently say ‘yes,’ he also struggles to say ‘no’ because of his strong belief in Nigeria’s potential:
“It’s sad, but I also can’t just say ‘no’ because I’m very pro-Nigeria. I genuinely believe we can get it right someday. So, I don’t know… let’s see,” he concluded with a laugh.

Falz, who is currently single and has no children, has long been known for using his platform to address social and political issues in the country.
