70 Year Old Abia Man Shot A Boy Dead Near His House

A 70-year-old man, Mr Stephen Irobunda has allegedly shot a young man, Mr Bright Odizuru dead for playing ball near his house in Ohokobe Ndume, Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.

The victim, Odizuru, was shot dead on Saturday by the suspect during an argument between the aged man and some youths in the community.

According to community sources, the victim along with other youths, were playing football near Irobunda’s house during local government election, which angered the suspect.

FCNN learnt that the man fired in the air to scare away the youths but the youths in responded by going back to Irobunda house to know why he was trying to intimidate them with gunshots.

The man then angrily drew his gun again and shot Bright Odizuru, one of the youths in his abdomen, leading to his death in a hospital.

The young man death made Ohokobe Mbaocha youths more mad as they all pounced on the suspect and attempted to lynch him before he was rescued by security agents.

The youths also made an attempt to set his house ablaze, but were calmed down by the security agents.

ASP Maureen Chinaka, spokesperson of Abia State Police Command, confirmed the killing when contacted saying

“Police have such reports, crime scene has been visited and investigation is ongoing at SCID”.
