Kwara Fire Service saves nine shops from major fire

The Kwara State Fire Service on Sunday prevented a major disaster after a fire outbreak at Joseph Duntoye Street, Tipper Garage, Tanke, in Ilorin South Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Service’s Head of Media and Publicity, Hassan Adekunle, made available on Monday, firefighters were able to save eight out of nine shops in the affected building.

“On arrival at the scene, firefighters discovered that a block of nine shops was on fire. Thanks to the swift intervention of our crew, only one shop was gutted by the blaze, while the remaining eight were saved,” Adekunle said.

He explained that preliminary findings showed the fire was triggered by a power surge that ignited the affected shop.
