Two hundred and ten Boko Haram fighters and their family members have surrendered to troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Sector 2 in the Lake Chad region.

FCNN gathered that the surrender follows intensified military operations in the region, including kinetic and non-kinetic efforts.

However, the surrendered terrorists confessed to participating in various terrorist acts and 10 assorted weapons were recovered from them.

The surrendered terrorists will be treated humanely and participate in a deradicalisation programme.

The Governor of the Region of Lake Chad, Brig.- Gen Saleh Haggar Tidjani, has promised to provide the repentant terrorists with a skill acquisition programme to facilitate their reintegration into society.
