Widow Seeks Justice Over Murder of 63-Year-Old Retired Soldier in Enugu

Mrs. Ngozi Ogbodo, widow of 63-year-old retired soldier Mr. Christopher Ogbodo, has called on the police to urgently arrest and prosecute those responsible for his brutal killing at a construction site in Igboke Nike, along the Nsukka–Ugwogo Nike Road, Enugu State.
Speaking to journalists in Enugu on Thursday, Mrs. Ogbodo said her husband, who worked as a security guard at a petroleum station under construction, was murdered in cold blood on July 1. She expressed frustration over the slow pace of the investigation, noting that neither the station manager nor the station’s owner had been arrested or questioned.
She demanded that everyone present at the site on the day of the incident — including the manager and the owner — be taken in for questioning to shed light on the killing.
“I’m unhappy with the delay in the investigation. On the day my husband was murdered, police from Unity Police Station, Ibeagwu, Nike, came later at night and moved his body to the morgue. The case was then transferred to the State CID Homicide Department. I learnt that only a labourer working at the station was arrested.
“The big question is: why hasn’t the station manager been arrested? Why hasn’t the owner of the station come forward or been questioned? Is there something they’re hiding from us about my husband’s death? This is a human life, not an animal — even domestic animals have owners,” she lamented.
The grieving widow also appealed for the immediate release of her husband’s remains for burial while investigations continue.
She accused the authorities of allowing the main suspects to walk freely since July 1 and urged the police to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice “no matter whose ox is gored.”
