Teenager Found Dead, Hanging from Roof in Benue

A teenage boy, identified as Tersoo Veregh, was found dead after allegedly hanging himself from the roof of his father’s house on Lorkyaako Street, High Level area of Makurdi, Benue State.
According to reports shared on X by counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the tragic discovery was made in the early hours of Saturday.
Makama stated that the boy’s father woke up around 2 a.m. to ease himself and found his son hanging inside the house.
Police officers from ‘B’ Division, Makurdi, reportedly visited the scene, photographed the body, and moved it to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital morgue for further investigation.
Confirming the incident, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Udeme Edet, said the case was under investigation. “We are aware of the incident, and for now, the investigation is ongoing,”
The case adds to the growing number of suicide-related incidents reported in Benue State and across Nigeria.
In recent years, similar tragedies have involved teenagers and adults, with experts linking the rising trend to economic hardship, family problems, and limited access to mental healthcare and social support.
