The World’s oldest person, Maria Branyas dies at age 117

Maria Branyas Morera, the world’s oldest person, has died at the age of 117.
The deceased family announced the sad news in a statement posted on X formerly Twitter on Tuesday, August 20.
Guinness World Records, also confirmed her demise, in a statement, saying Maria passed away on Monday, August 20.
According to the statement, her death was confirmed by the Gerontology Research Group at Aged 117 years 168 days, which made her the eighth-oldest person with a verifiable age in history.
She was also confirmed to be the world’s oldest woman and overall person in January 2023 after the death of Lucile Randon France.

Maria passed away peacefully at the nursing home in Catalonia, Spain, where she resided for the past two decades.
