Three Rescued, Others Trapped in Lagos Building Collapse

Three construction workers were rescued with varying injuries after a one-storey building under construction collapsed on Sunday afternoon in the Mushin area of Lagos State.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at 96 Ishaga Road, directly opposite the Idi Araba Central Mosque.
According to a statement by the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, emergency services responded swiftly to the scene following a distress call.
Adeseye said multiple agencies were involved in the rescue operation, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Lagos State Ambulance Service, and the Nigeria Police.
“So far, three adult males have been rescued alive with varying degrees of injury. They were initially treated at the scene and later transferred to the hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service,” she said.
Search and rescue efforts were still ongoing at the time of reporting, and the exact cause of the collapse is currently under investigation.
This latest incident follows a similar building collapse reported in April on Oremeta Street, Ojodu-Berger, where a multi-storey structure — also under construction and housing the well-known Equal Right Restaurant — crumbled around 8 a.m.

Eyewitnesses described that building as a “bomb waiting to explode,” though the cause remains unknown.
