Wande Coal is Afrobeats’ most talented artist – Seyi Sodimu

Veteran singer and rapper Seyi Sodimu has hailed Wande Coal as Nigeria’s most talented Afrobeats artist.

Speaking in a recent interview with comedian Teju Babyface, Sodimu credited Wande Coal with shaping the modern Afrobeats sound and influencing a new wave of stars, including Wizkid, Davido, and Sean Tizzle.

“Wande Coal was a pivotal moment in Afrobeats history. He introduced a new style that influenced people like Wizkid, Davido, and Sean Tizzle. That sound helped push Afrobeats to where it is today. In my opinion, he’s the most talented Nigerian Afrobeats artist,” Sodimu said.

Describing Wande Coal as a “genius,” Sodimu praised his exceptional singing and songwriting skills.

He noted that despite not always getting the recognition he deserves in terms of awards, Wande Coal’s music remains widely loved.

When asked by Babyface if Wande Coal is receiving his “flowers,” Sodimu responded:

“What do you mean by flowers—streams? People love Wande Coal whenever they hear his music. Any artist you ask, even Burna Boy, will attest to his artistry. I’m older than Wande Coal, and I know he’s operating at just 30% capacity and still excelling. Imagine if he was at 78%. Wande is amazing.”
