Tinubu launches tax calculator to show impact of reforms on incomes

President Bola Tinubu on Friday introduced a new Personal Income Tax calculator designed to help Nigerians understand how recent tax reforms will affect their earnings.

In a post on his official X account, the President explained that the tool allows citizens to compare their current tax payments with estimates under the new laws, which take effect in January 2026.

Tinubu said the reforms aim to build a fairer tax system that protects low-income earners and avoids placing undue burden on the vulnerable.

“A fair tax system must never punish poverty or weigh down the most vulnerable,” he stated. “With the new tax laws I recently signed, we have lifted this burden and created a path of equity, fairness, and true redistribution in our economy.”

According to him, the calculator highlights how the reforms safeguard low-income groups, ensure progressivity, simplify compliance, and promote transparency.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, Tinubu added: “Together, we are renewing hope in the Nigeria of our dreams. Take a bet on our country. Bet on Nigeria to work for you, your family, and your community.”
