Tinubu Meets Service Chiefs Over Escalating Insecurity
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday held a closed-door meeting with Nigeria’s service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, amid rising security concerns across the country.
In attendance were the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyode; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice-Marshal Kelvin Aneke; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye; Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Tosin Ajayi.
Although details of the meeting were not immediately disclosed, the high-level briefing comes hours after the release of abducted Catholic school students and worshippers in Kwara State — an incident that drew national attention to Nigeria’s worsening security challenges.
The presidency is expected to issue a statement once the briefing concludes.
