Tragedy in LASUTH: Woman Dies After Alleged Surgical Negligence, Needle Left Inside Her Body
A heartbreaking case of alleged medical negligence has rocked Lagos as a young woman reportedly lost her life after a series of shocking failures at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.
According to sources close to the victim’s family, the woman had undergone a cesarean section at LASUTH, only to be sent home with a surgical needle allegedly left inside her body. Despite her persistent complaints of severe pain and health complications post-surgery, the hospital reportedly denied her urgent requests for corrective surgery.

The situation worsened until her condition became critical, prompting her return to the hospital. Tragically, by the time LASUTH agreed to perform surgery, it was too late — she died on the operating table.
Family members and human rights advocates are calling for an immediate investigation into the incident. “How can a reputable hospital make such a deadly mistake and still delay treatment?” one relative asked in anguish. “She cried for help and was ignored.”
The shocking development has sparked outrage across social media, with Nigerians demanding accountability from the hospital and Lagos State health authorities.
As of now, LASUTH has not released an official statement addressing the allegations.
