Tragic Truck Crash in Benue Claims Lives of 9 Family Members While Asleep
A heartbreaking accident in Okete, Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State, has left a community in mourning after a faulty truck crashed into a residential building, killing nine family members.
The tragedy unfolded at around 5 a.m. on Thursday while the victims were reportedly asleep. Witnesses say the truck, traveling along the roadside, suffered a brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and plow into the home.
“The incident happened early this morning when most people were still in bed. The loud noise from the crash woke up the neighbours,” an eyewitness recounted.

Benue State Police Command spokesperson Catherine Anene confirmed the incident, stating:
“The truck rammed into a residential building, killing nine members of the family. The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.”
She added that investigations into the accident are underway, promising further updates as more information becomes available.
The tragedy has left the local community in shock, sparking renewed concerns over road safety regulations and the maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles.
