Troops, DSS Eliminate 45 Terrorists in Niger State Gun Battle

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in a joint operation with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and hybrid forces, have killed dozens of terrorists in a fierce gunfight in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The operation was launched following intelligence reports about an impending attack on Iburu village. According to a statement released by the DSS on Monday, the terrorists were spotted advancing toward the village on multiple motorcycles when security forces swiftly intervened.
“Acting on credible intelligence, troops of the Nigerian Army and hybrid forces, supported by the DSS, engaged the terrorists on Friday evening in Iburu village. No fewer than 45 bandits were neutralised during the encounter,” the statement read.
Residents of the area confirmed the incident, saying they counted at least 40 bodies believed to be those of the terrorists.
They also reported seeing dozens of destroyed motorcycles used by the attackers.

Unfortunately, the statement noted, two members of the hybrid forces were killed in the operation, while four others sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving treatment at a public hospital in the state capital.
