Turkey Extends Condolences to Nigeria Over Niger State Flood Tragedy

Turkey has offered its condolences to Nigeria in the wake of the catastrophic floods that struck Mokwa and nearby communities in Niger State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and widespread destruction caused by the disaster.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and destruction caused by the devastating floods in the Mokwa region of Niger State, Nigeria. We extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to the people of Nigeria,” the statement read.

In response to the tragedy, President Bola Tinubu dispatched a high-level delegation to Niger State on Saturday to assess the damage and coordinate relief efforts.

According to the Niger State Government, at least 151 people have been confirmed dead, while more than 3,000 residents have been displaced.

The floods have also destroyed over 260 homes, township roads, and key bridges in the Mokwa and Raba areas, worsening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
