Two Notorious Terrorists Surrender to Nigerian Troops in Katsina, Defence Headquarters Reports

Significant victory for Nigeria’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announced that two infamous terrorist commanders, Abu Radde and Umar Black, have surrendered to Nigerian troops in Katsina State. The development was confirmed during a press briefing by military authorities, who described it as a major milestone in the fight against insurgency and banditry in the region.
According to the DHQ, the duo were key figures in orchestrating several attacks, kidnappings, and other criminal activities in the northwest. Their surrender is being attributed to the relentless military offensives under Operation Hadarin Daji, which has been targeting bandits and terrorist camps in the area.
The military revealed that Abu Radde and Umar Black voluntarily turned themselves in after being cornered by security forces during a strategic operation. They reportedly handed over their weapons, including AK-47 rifles and ammunition, and have since been moved to a secure location for debriefing and further investigations.
Speaking on the matter, a senior military official said, “The surrender of these two notorious terrorists is a clear indication that our strategies are yielding positive results. It is a strong message to other criminal elements that the Nigerian Armed Forces remain committed to restoring peace and security to every corner of the country.”
In recent months, the Nigerian military has intensified its operations against insurgents and bandits, deploying advanced technology and intelligence-driven tactics. This has led to the dismantling of several hideouts and the rescue of numerous hostages. The surrender of high-profile terrorists like Abu Radde and Umar Black is seen as a boost to the morale of troops and a sign of progress in the ongoing war against terrorism.
Authorities have urged other criminals still at large to follow suit and surrender, assuring them of fair treatment in line with Nigeria’s deradicalization and reintegration program for repentant militants. However, the Defence Headquarters emphasized that those who refuse to lay down their arms will face the full wrath of the law.
The surrender of these notorious figures comes at a time when the government is stepping up efforts to address insecurity across the country. Citizens have expressed cautious optimism, hoping this marks the beginning of the end for the reign of terror in the affected regions.
