BREAKING: Kano Court Frees Six EndBadGovernance Protesters Following NBA Citizens’ Liberties Committee Intervention

On Thursday, the Nomansland Magistrate Court in Kano, the capital of Kano State, ordered the release of six #EndBadGovernance protesters. The released individuals were among those arrested and facing trial for participating in the nationwide #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests held from August 1 to 10. The protests were against acute hunger, hardship, and poor governance under President Bola Tinubu.
The court granted the unconditional release of the six protesters following the intervention of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Citizens’ Liberties Committee. However, the court adjourned the trial of other detained protesters to Tuesday, September 23, 2024.
Earlier, Fushion Chronicles reported that the NBA Committee, chaired by human rights lawyer Nuhu Egya, attended the trial of the protesters. Other committee members, including human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju, alongside other prominent human rights lawyers, also paid a solidarity visit to the detained protesters in prison.
