Use AI in a Godly Manner, Lagos Deputy Governor Hamzat Advises Nigerians

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has urged religious leaders to educate their congregations on the importance of embracing technology while staying true to their faith.

Speaking at the fourth Annual Ramadan Lecture/Iftar and Special Prayer in Memory of the Late Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat, organized by Hon. Moses Oluwatoyin Fayinka in Mushin, Lagos, Hamzat emphasized the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern life.

He called on clerics to guide their followers in using AI responsibly, ensuring that technological advancements align with religious values.

“In terms of Artificial Intelligence, it is to challenge the Imams and, of course, the Christian leaders to let them understand the influence of Artificial Intelligence in the lives of humanity and how to preach and make people understand that we have to find a way to live with the technology and still be religious, and live our lives in a godly way,” Hamzat said.

Highlighting the significance of the event, Hamzat urged children to honor their parents even after their passing, as it preserves their legacy.

Hon. Fayinka encouraged peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, regardless of religious differences, while praising the late Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat for his leadership and dedication to unity.

During his lecture, Islamic scholar Sheikh Almudeen Mubarak emphasized the importance of justice, urging Nigerians to treat one another with fairness and equality.
