Wanted Kidnapper Arrested at Abuja Airport During Hajj Screening

A suspected kidnapper, Yahaya Zango, was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Hajj Camp in Abuja while undergoing screening ahead of this year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

According to a security source, Zango, a resident of Paikon-Kore in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was apprehended on Sunday after presenting his passport as part of a group of Muslim pilgrims.

Zango had reportedly been declared wanted over his alleged involvement in a series of kidnapping incidents and had been evading arrest during a security-led manhunt.

“It was during the screening at the Hajj camp this afternoon that DSS operatives arrested him and took him into custody,” the source stated.

A senior official of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, who asked not to be named, also confirmed the arrest.
