The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has given a serious warning to a group that is famously known as the “Take it Back Movement” as a result of a proposed protest across the country. The proposed date fixed is Monday, April 7, 2025, which coincides with the official National Police Day.

According to a press release signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the NPF expressed concern over the timing and intent of the protest. While acknowledging the constitutional rights of citizens to peaceful assembly, the police described the planned demonstration as “ill-timed and mischievous.”

The group proposed that the protest will happened in many states, and also the Federal Capital Territory, on the very day earmarked to honor the resilience, sacrifice, and service of police officers across the country.

The day is also expected to feature high-profile gatherings, including foreign Inspectors-General of Police, diplomats, and other dignitaries.

The Force believes the move by the protest organizers could undermine the significance of the newly designated National Police Day and tarnish Nigeria’s image on a global scale. “The rationale behind staging a protest on the same day is questionable and perceived to be a deliberate and unpatriotic act,” the statement read.
